Karachi, July 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): Al-Rahim Textile Industries has achieved 10th Annual Environment Excellence Awards 2013, because of running ‘Healthy Environment for All (HEA)’ program within organization, and introducing a range of eco-friendly terry towels in the international market. Supported by United Nation Environment Program (UNEP), the environment excellence awards are annually organized by National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH), Publicity Channel, and Energy Update Pakistan.
Mahmood Akhtar Cheema, Country head International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN-Pakistan), Senator A Haseeb Khan, Former Federal minister of petroleum Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui, and Consul General Yamen Dr. Ikhtiar Baig, were the chief guests on the occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Faisal Saya CEO Al-Rahim Textile Industries said that this is more than an acquisition of an award, because the worldwide recognition of Pakistani textile companies as environmentally and socially compliant firms is a real achievement that must be appreciated at all forums.
Starting from the manufacturing of the finished products to supply chain management, according to Faisal Saya, today’s textile industry regards CSM as a highly valuable organizational policy, and corporate sustainability management in this sector is more crucial and significant than other trading and industrial sectors.
‘The blind rate of modernity and development has blessed the modern civilization with tricky riddles and complicated and deep-rooted miseries e.g. environmental pollution and degradation, deforestation, toxic wastes, greenhouse gases, and uncontrollable fumes and industrial clutter, and spills etc.’, Faisal Saya said.
Annual Environmental Excellence Awards (AEEAs) were instituted 10 years ago in Pakistan, and have lured a very enthusiastic response from the local industries. The AEEA are designed to recognize and promote the Pakistan-based manufacturers and exporters which make an outstanding contribution towards sustainable development.

KARACHI :   Sixty-four companies were given away 10th Annual Environment Excellence Awards (AEEA) by National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) for showing best environment conservation performance at an impressive ceremony held at a local hotel on Friday night.
More than 140 companies submitted their nominations out of which 64 were awarded.

The jury comprised environment experts including Shamsul Haq Memon, Consultant Sindh Coastal Authority and CEO Environment Management Consultant Nadeem Arif. NFEH has been organizing AEEA since 2004 with support of Ministry of Environment and other international environmental protection organizations and NGOs.
The award has been instituted to recognize and promote the organizations which made an outstanding contribution to sustainable development and economic growth of the country. These companies are working tremendously achieving economic and social development without harming the environment and natural resources.

Highlighting the significance of environment-friendly business practices, Mr. Faisal Saya CEO Al-Rahim Textile Industries said that in the modern period, sustainability tends to be an essence of industrial goodness and business excellence, and being a successful business organization we get worldwide recognition due to our environmental and ecological considerations. ‘Long past are the days when human goodness was all belonged to the humans only, while machines and pieces of industrial equipment ruled the roost at the cost of irrecoverable environmental degradation and never-ending contamination. Yesterday, this was the natural environment that fell prey to the human greed, and in a complete contrast today has given rise to those of the business practices and industrial operations that fully respect the natural surroundings, and modify rest of the commercial activities in accordance with social and environmental obligations’, Faisal Saya said.
In his speech of welcome, Chairman NFEH Dr. Kaiser Waheed highlighted the overall mission and commitment of National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) towards increasing a widespread sense of environmental responsibility within business communities in the country. Speaking on the subject of ‘A Successful Journey for Sustainable Development’, President NFEH M. NaeemQureshi said the all efforts should be to recognize such companies and organizations that continuously strive achieve higher degree of sustainable development and economic growth of the country. These companies, according to Mr. Qureshi, are working tremendously for achieving economic and social development without harming the environment and natural resources.
